What Are PIDS?

PIDS stands for Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems. These consist of sensors which are mounted onto fences (or metallic surfaces) to detect vibrations and take action. They can differentiate between the types of threats to eliminate false alarms. For example, if someone were to cut or attempt to scale the fence, then the sensors would detect the vibration and create an alert, pinpointing the exact area of attack.

The system can be configured to ignore non-threatening occurrences like birds landing on the fence, wildlife or adverse weather. This means that only genuine threats will raise an alert, allowing immediate action to be taken. This can take the form of alarms, lighting, camera feeds or sirens. Once configured to work with custom security software, it provides the perfect solution to create a live camera feed which will send an alert to your security monitoring company, security staff or the homeowner, allowing them to take the necessary steps to protect themselves.

What Type of Fencing Will Work With PIDS?

These systems are designed to work with almost any form of metallic fencing.

PIDS work best with Wire fencing, mesh fencing, security railings, solid metal fencing and palisade fencing.

Some more advanced systems can be configured to work on non-metallic surfaces such as site hoarding and acoustic fencing.

There are many variations of the PIDS systems which will all have unique pros and cons. The basic PIDS uses are:

Low-Level Security PIDS:

• El-Far CU-07

• Ideal for smaller sites under 800m.

• Switches on lights/CCTV on activation.

• Perfect for remote monitoring CCTV stations.

• Works well with welded mesh fences and chain-link fences.

• Can work with some forms of wooden fence.

Medium-Level Security PIDS:

• El-Far Viper Sens

• Perfect for sites over 800 metres.

• Great for localised area monitoring.

• Will work with CCTV and basic alarms/lighting/sirens.

• Provides focused targeting to pinpoint entry attempts.

• This system is software controlled allowing for more advanced configurations.

• Ideal for control rooms and more advanced monitoring.

• Works well with almost any form of metallic fencing or surface.

High-Level Security PIDS:

• El-Far Elec-Sens

• Can be configured to work across vast expanses of fencing and walls.

• Providing high-level security.

• Sensitivity can be customised to eliminate all false alarms.

• (commonly used in UHNWI, Military bases, prisons, data-centres etc)

• This will work with almost all fencing types, including site hoarding and acoustic fences.

• You cannot bypass this system without creating an alert.

• Ideally suited to high-grade protection from UHNWIs to Corporate & Business applications.

• More discreet and aesthetically more pleasant.

Security Systems That Work Where Fences Cannot Be Installed:

Sometimes, it is not possible to install a fence along a boundary that requires protection. There may be issues with the local authority or restrictions in place which mean you have to keep an open area (such as woodland) free from fencing.

This does not mean it needs to go unprotected.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY & PROCEDURE

We have a very strict environmental policy in place at Titan, starting in our office right through to completion of projects on site, all waste materials that are taken down and cleared from site is fully controlled, we hold a full Environmental Agency waste transfer licence allowing us to safety remove all waste from site, all waste materials are fully recycled at our yard, concrete removed from site is crushed and reinforcing bar separated, all steel is treated and recycled, timber, plastic and excavated materials are all processed to be recycled.
